RTÉ’s Sessions from Oblivion is back for another round. On Wednesday, the Róisín Dubh opened its doors for the newest edition of the series that amplifies local musicians.
This particular sold-out event featured four acts from Galway and surrounds: Aimee Carty, Shark School, Theatre, and Adore.
While all four main acts were announced ahead of time, their order of appearance was kept under wraps.
The line up had something for everyone.

Aimee Carty started out the evening with a heartfelt solo performance ending on her viral hit ‘2 days into college’. The vibes took a 180 turn from calm acoustic sounds to mosh pits and crowd surfing when the Galway based band Shark School took the stage.

Up next, the Limerick band Theatre delivered songs that felt familiar and excitingly new at the same time. Adore closed the live music portion of the evening and managed to turn even first-time listeners into fans by the end of their set.

I went into the evening with curiosity, not really knowing what to expect. I left following the artists on Instagram and with several additions to my liked songs.
This event’s line-up was a great example of the immensely talented musicians we have here in the West of Ireland. And that it’s always worth checking out a new artist; you might just leave with a new favourite band.

Whether you missed the live performance or you simply can’t get enough, be sure to keep an eye (and an ear) out for the recording which will be broadcast on RTÉ 2fm in February and March. Lastly, let me remind you: if you want to support local artists like Theatre, Adore, and co., buy their merch, their CDs, and go to their gigs.
